Oaks bet after offers begin

By Editor On May 26th, 2009 in Free Racing Tips /

We’ve been very patient lately but it rebounded on us last week (more of that later) and we’re not making the same mistake again - we’re getting stuck into the Oaks as the bookies have started making concessions.

Both Stan James and Bet365 have gone ‘non-runner, no bet’ and best odds guaranteed on the two Epsom Classics so we’re taking advantage and lumping on Midday for the Oaks (11/2 SJ, 5/1 B365).

Henry Cecil has the magic touch in this race and his inmate looks an absolute each-way steal at the above prices - we’ll go one point each-way on our four points max. scale.

The filly was staying on in grand style in Lingfield’s recent Oaks trial and looks a certainty for a place at least, given stamina doubts over several rivals.

Sariska is probably the main danger, while a tip-top Rainbow View would be a strong contender, but Midday ticks all the right boxes - even having good course form!

Our patience was ill-advised last week as we studied long and hard and debated putting up heavy ground horses for the Temple Stakes when there was huge value around (Look Busy and Reverence were among the massively over-priced runners last Tuesday as the going was bound to change with such a wet forecast).

We slipped up there so, be aware, we’ll be stepping up our activity starting with Midday!

Back with a bet in the Dante!

By Editor On May 13th, 2009 in Free Racing Tips /

After a spell where we couldn’t find a value bet despite scouring the racing programme, we’re back with an account bet in the Dante Stakes at York (2.40).

Crowded House makes absolutely no appeal at 6/4 favourite so we’re going to row in with the back-to-form Godolphin team and the hugely promising Kite Wood.

Trained by the excellent Michael Jarvis last term, this progressive colt is available at 13/2 with Ladbrokes (6/1 with Paddy Power) and is worth a 0.5 point each-way investment.

We’d also suggest a small each-way bet on Kite Wood at 20/1 for the Derby with Sportingbet (16s generally) as the word from the Goldolphin camp is positive.

It’s a tough Dante but, win or lose, there’s a poor value favourite and we’re happy to bet.

We’ll try to update the website more regularly now the season is kicking into full gear but we most certainly won’t bet until the time and the odds are right.
