After much twisting and turning, we’ve decided not have an account bet but we will mention a few horses that we were looking at closely.
In the Lincoln (3.55 Doncaster), Cobo Bay is a lively outsider at 50/1 as he goes well fresh and hails from the adept Kevin Ryan stable - perhaps worth a small stakes interest?
Slugger O’Toole could be the one in the consolation Spring Mile at 2.45.
Beaver Patrol would be very interesting in the 3.20, especially if the rains stay away. If that’s the case, the 15/2 with Beftred would be worth an each-way interest.
At Kempton, Cape Express has really strong claims in the Roseberry at 3.00 but the price has gone on Michael Jarvis’ charge and 15/8 is probably too short.
It’s World Cup Day in Dubai and Asiatic Boy would be our fancy in the big one while Naval Officer catches the eye in the 2.15 at the Nad Al Sheba track.
He obviously has Desert Party to beat but Victor Chandler’s 14/1 is an appetising each-way price - Free £50 Bet
.
So no account bet but some decent fancies - maybe we’ll have a small multiple!
It’s a mouthwatering mix of racing on Saturday and we’re very likely to return to betting action, with at least three potential wagers on the cards.
We’ve got our beady eyes on the flat meetings at Doncaster and Dubai (now that’s a pair of differing venues!) and also the jumpers at Lingfield.
There are few things to check out in the morning for these prospective bets so we’ll be looking to update the site before midday tomorrow, most probably with tips to report.
In other news, State Of Play has been confirmed as a runner in the Grand National by trainer Evan Williams - so our 25/1 coup is still on!!
Our Grand National fancy State Of Play took a worrying walk in the Betfair market for the big race on Wednesday - let’s hope it’s ill-informed.
Our 25/1 each-way bet has looked great value as it was slashed down to as low as 14/1 with the bookies but today his odds hovered around 28/1 on the exchange.
The fear has to be that someone knows about an injury or setback but we can only keep our fingers crossed, as otherwise we’ve got a really good bet on our hands.
As ever, contact bespoke.content@btinternet.com to join our e-mail update list.
Our best form man is convinced that Without A Prayer has an excellent chance in today’s Winter Derby (3.05) on Lingfield’s all-weather track.
Confidence is slightly reduced by a poor draw but Ralph Beckett’s charge is worth an each-way 0.25 point account bet on the basis of some good runs in Deauville and Dubai.
Have a bet at 8/1 with Bet365, as they offer quarter the odds a place. Open an account with bet365 and claim your £200 free bet basket.
They’ll also give you a free bet on the next C4 race if you back a winner bigger than 4/1.
Alternatively, Paddy Power and Victor Chandler - Free £50 Bet
- also offer 8/1 but not with the above place concession.
While Bet On Horses concentrates more on Flat racing than the jumps, we have to join our sister site Cheltenham Festival Tips in grabbing some Grand National value.
We’ve had our eye on a runner in the race for some time and, as he is getting sustained support for the second time in a week, it’s time to act.
We are advising a 0.5 points each-way bet on State Of Play at 25/1.

In truth, we wanted to hang on a little longer with this bet as withdrawals at the head of the market could lead to State Of Play carrying just over 11 stone on the day - not ideal on the trends - but the 33/1 has gone recently and we can’t let the same happen to the 25s.
Evan Williams’ inmate only falls down on one other key trend and that’s the lack of a recent run - however he won the Hennessy on his seasonal debut in late 2006 and has a touch of class as evidenced by his Charlie Hall success last November.
He ticks all the other boxes and has been laid out for this race by his canny trainer.
